Brian was born and grew up in Northern Virginia. He has been shoeing horses for over twenty years. He has shod horses for Olympic riders in the disciplines of dressage, show jumping and three-day eventing, including in the barns of Leslie Law, Bruce Davidson, Karen and David O’Connor, Aaron Vale and Darren Chiaccia. He has also traveled abroad to shoe for his clients including trips to Canada, Sweden, Germany, France, and England.
When he was twenty-five Brian was sent by the U.S. government to spend six months in Cambridge, England, to earn his European Horseshoeing Certification. At that time he also became certified with the America Farriers Association and the Brotherhood of Working Farriers Association. Upon his return to the United States he was commissioned to shoe the Presidential Honor Guard horses in the 3rd Infantry, H Company, Fort Meyers, Virginia, which he did for five years.
In 1994 Brian moved his business to the San Jose area of California where he worked for eight years shoeing dressage horses and hunters and jumpers but also working for the San Jose Police Department. In 2002 he moved to Ocala, Florida, where he currently resides and shoes performance horses.
Brian also enjoys travel, scuba diving, shooting, and a good meal followed by a single malt scotch and a fine cigar. In 1993 he placed 5th in the heavyweight division of the Mr. America contest. Brian is also a certified commercial and aerobatic pilot with a low level waiver and has performed in air shows all over the United States. He and Ashley own an Extra 300 stunt plane.
